Media Working Group provides an organizational environment that allows members to create programs for communities of interest and provide services to the documentary and digital media field. They range from community partner driven workshops, seminars, institutes, or screenings, to consulting about technologies or organizational development.

We create media and stories with people, in a collaborative way, engaging in social action and bringing those stories and ideas into the public sphere. Media Working Group’s films are designed to facilitate change. They are made available to people engaged in change nationally and internationally and they often come with academic and activist screening tools.

Media education is a key component of our overall approach to engagement with our artistic and geographic communities of interest. We understand that learning now takes place on multiple media platforms simultaneously — that the classroom is only one platform among many.  We provide training for trainers, theory for practitioners, workshops in teaching with media for educators — and much more.

Distribution is one of the four legs of Media Working Group services and media practice. Independent films could not be made without the support of institutions who purchase the work. The ongoing well-being of an artist and they’re ability to continue to produce depends on it.
